Quasar’s staff attended a fun industry trivia night with Women in Design and Construction (WIDAC) themed; Human Centred Design. This interactive night with team challenges and inspiring industry speakers Angela Ferguson, Dr. Tara Kazi & Letesha Goble explored how environments and workplaces affect our health and ways to improve our ability to interact and perform.
Some facts that we learnt were:
1. A holistic approach to design and construction is required, where research and understanding of human factors ensure designs are fit for purpose for end-users of all types and abilities.
2. On average, people spend 83% of their time indoors and a well-designed interior can mould a person’s experience. For example, blue is a popular choice in corporate interiors as it is promotes feelings of confidence, loyalty, and trust.
3. The ongoing work towards mental health awareness and suicide prevention is essential to ensure the drastic rates of suicide in the construction industry are reduced.
